Mimi Playing Around

It's Been A While

So I know it's been a while, and I'm so sorry, but we have been SUPER  busy. I'd contemplated even typing this. School has been hectic, but good, and things are starting to slow down. Our classes are no joke; we get homework almost everyday(weekends too), so with all this going on, we decided to get kinky twists, to give our hair a break. Well so far only me, Marilyn getting her's done tomorrow. During this time, I'll be researching products to moisturize my hair, because my hair has breaking badly due to lack of moisture. If I can I'll try to post a pic tomorrow, but for now, until I'm free, there won't be as many posts, but I'll try, I have reviews and videos, but I've been busy and lazy. BTW, I'm SIX months natural today, six more to go!

Coming of Junior Year

So the time has come again, school. This year not only will we be juniors, but in 2 days I'll be 5 months natural on the first B day of school. It's pretty good starting the new school year natural because all we are wearing is a wash n go. There is going to be a lot of changes this year(good of course with God's help),with one of being Marilyn getting a job. When she had on her uniform, I couldn't stop laughing at her. It's not that I was laughing at how she looked, but I couldn't believe she had her first job.

Mimi in her Papa John's uniform.

Yesterday, we went to meet our teachers and I had to sell yearbooks for the yearbook staff. Luckily for me, the teacher didn't kicked me off for not selling my required ads, but instead is relying on me to come up with this grunge look for photos this year, since she says I'm creative. Both Mimi and I are happy with our schedules(had to get mine switched around), and have three classes together this year.

Earlier this week, we took some pictures with my camera, and they turned out good. We got a lot of compliments on them, but the hair style we had; we just couldn't keep it up so that's why tomorrow we are wearing an old wash n go.
So I'll come back tomorrow on how the first day of school went or wait until Friday to recall the week. It depends.

Summer Vacation So Far

So today is the first day of July and I can't really say I'm having a good vacation. It's not bad but it's not great either. The first month of my vacation was spent staying home and selling yearbook ads which are almost impossible to sell. So the ads have definitely ruined my mood but I prayed about it and got my first sale and some possible sales; I have to call back with them to make sure, but I'm trying and getting somewhere. So I'm praying July goes MUCH better than June and that I sell these ads. July the 4th is coming up and on that day not only will I celebrate Independence Day, but I will also celebrate National Afro Day, and I will be definitely be rocking my fro. So that day I'm looking forward to, but after that it's back to work with ad sales. It's like I'm doing school work during summer, but I have to do it or else I won't be on the yearbook staff which is adding more stress to me. Not a good thing, because I don't handle stress well nowadays, but I'm trying to get better.

I do have one trip I'm really looking forward to which is going to Florida, but after it's time to get ready for school. I have to admit that this summer vacation is going by fast, which leaves me wondering will my junior year go by quick. At least my hair is one of my least concern. Wait I take that back, because I might wear a twist out. But until school starts, July will mostly be work with a week off for a trip. Wonder how my summer vacation for senior year will be?

Just Talk

Hi, it's been so long since we last posted. I thought Mimi was going to do something, but she's been super lazy about the blog. I have a legit excuse, which was me trying to sell yearbook ads(so far none has bought from me, and I don't know why it's mandatory). So since I've been busy with that, I've been feeling down and stopped working out, so I know I picked up a few pounds. Surprisingly, I haven't neglected my hair as much. I still wash & DC once a week, twist my hair, and untwist the next day. After the 2nd day, I picked my twist out, since it was raining for three days straight(I didn't mind). This yearbook staff stuff is really messing up my routine though, I need to relax and get back into shape. Lately, I've been praying about it, so I have to wait and see how this will turn out. Later I'll post a pic of my hair and compare it my BC. I'm so happy now that my hair is growing, by the way, I'm 3 months and 2 weeks, and it's getting longer. Well that's all for now.

Ooo, I almost forgot....

Recap of our trip to Dallas

Well Saturday, my mom, siblings, grandparents, and I left for Dallas over the weekend to see my youngest aunt preach her first sermon. First of all, our mom made us drive half the way there to get some more experience before we got our intermediate license that we were suppose to get earlier, but that's another funny story. Anyway, we get to Dallas, but before we got to our hotel, we went to the wrong hotel twice, but that's A LONG story. We get to the hotel finally, check into our rooms, and meet all our aunts but one. Luckily for us, they all liked our hair a lot. We have two cousins who are natural, but straighten their hair, and the oldest liked our hair and ended up falling in love with our Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie even though she uses it for wrapping her hair, but that's OK.

Later, we go to Black Eyed Pea to eat, and surprise, the 5th aunt comes in. She's actually the 4th, but I just said 5th since she was the last to show. She saw our hair and liked it; she even played in my hair while walking to her chair. We got through with dinner(had a lot of laughs and camera wars with Marilyn) and headed to Walgreen's  While their we showed our cousin what product we used, so now their's another Shea Moisture fan. By the way, we wore twist outs the whole weekend. Back at the hotel, we watched the trains pass by every 30 minutes and watched people pull into Arby's at 12 something in the morning. I know we were sort of bored, but we had fun and watched our cousin straighten her sister's hair. Later, we were off to sleep, ready to get up early in the morning.

Sunday morning, we got dressed and ready to head to church and home. Knowing Marilyn and I, we got a stash of headbands, and we chose our biggest headbands. We get to the church, which was actually at a student union at a college. We go inside and guess what we see...... So many women with natural hair and at least 5 guys with dreads. Even the Preacher's wife was natural, and there was this lady with real long dreads who liked our hair. During greeting time, all of the women who were natural, came up to us hugging us and saying how much they liked our hair, which was a huge boost in our confidence( not like we didn't have any problems). Then, we stayed for aunt's sermon which went very well. Later, we went out to eat, and met another natural who was asking Marilyn how we styled our hair. Now we get that a lot often, it's so weird telling a woman older than me how or what we used to style our hair. After that, we went back home and went straight to sleep, since we had to get our intermediate license the next day. We did get it and went driving right after. :-D

New Name

Well I'm thinking about changing the name of the blog to something different from referring to being natural. I've talked with Mimi, and she says OK. Now it's up to me to find the name. Want something that puts together everything we might talk about; I think I might have something. The same will go for our YouTube channel.

And here's a pic of my recent twist out, turned out real good.

Colors

Carolyn: From now on, my posts will be in blue, and Marilyn's will be in a different color.

No Good

Carolyn: Well I took down my twists last Sunday, and it was ok, not the best but ok. It didn't even last as long as my first twist out. So I'm trying it again, besides our cousin's graduation is coming up, and I need to know my hair will come out right. Anyway, I shampooed with Mineral Fusion shampoo, DC with Giovani Nutrafix Hair Reconstructer, detangled with Kinky-Curly Knot Today, and used Shea Moistures Curl Enhancing Smoothie for my twists. I also put their Hold & Shine Hair Moisture Mist afterwards. So wish me luck on this one. Also, I became 2 months natural on Tuesday! :-)

Oh and by the way, here are pics of Barack after a bath. I wasn't the only one getting my hair washed.
Him after, doesn't he look mad. :-D

New Discussion: Problems at School

Carolyn: So who has issues at school? Pretty much everyone. Well mine is no better. Since starting sophomore year, I have met many people who have surprised me a lot by their attitudes, speech, and behavior. Now before you say anything, I come from a country school, with 50 kids or less in your grade and the people were down-to-earth and smart or had more common sense. Now freshmen year, we moved to a new school where a lot of people from the city are moving there and there is about 300+ students in your grade, a huge change for us. But as I was saying, I'VE NEVER MET SO MANY RUDE, VULGAR, IDIOTIC PEOPLE IN MY LIFE UNTIL I MOVED HERE! I mean, no one wants to here you are doing a threesome or you are about to have a shoot out at someone's house. These people are ridiculous. Yet, are mom keeps asking us was it worth it to move here to get a better education, but we don't want to go back to SL, because we only be going behind in education, and I really want to get in MSU's Shackouls Honors College, so I'm stuck. :( Everyday, I think about how it'll be like junior or senior because I'll be in honor classes and yearbook.

I know I"m jumping around, but the other day at school(this is an example of the kind of people I encounter everyday) this guy pulls up my jacket saying, "Shake that a#*," as I was walking back to my desk. I didn't say a thing. Then later he had the nerve to call me the mean twin just because I wouldn't let him copy my answers, (him and others). I told them that I am not, but Marilyn will let you copy her answers and then change hers afterwards. I am tired of people saying I'm the mean twin just because I don't let them have their way, but you know what, I'm going to stop saying I'm nice or I'm not antisocial( I get that to too, but that's another story) and say, "Yea I am, so what, that still means that I won't..." UGGGHHHHH, WHHHYYYY! All I can do is pray, but....

But there has to be another way to deal with THESE people, but what, WHAT?!?!?

P.S.: There are probably some errors in these paragraphs, but forgive me, & Barack says hi! Ooo, and I just did twist on my hair, I'll come back later and let you know how the twist outs did, and have a video on them too, if all goes right.

Problems on the About Us page

Hey I just learned that our about us page was basically empty. Come to find out, no one change the color of the letters when I changed the background, LOL! Well it's fixed :D

Ohh Weather

Carolyn: Well I tried to do a twist out again over the weekend like I did for Easter, but...... the weather is constantly changing. It's humid one day, raining the next, and nice the other. So I give up for the next week, probably will give my hair a break. Other than that, I kind of have to wear a little make up so I stick to mascara for school. I haven't decided yet if I want to put on a little eyeshadow( by the way we are also make up junkies even though we don't wear make up often), but I think mascara is good enough for me. Oh and GOOD NEWS, school's almost out! Don't know what day you get out, but we get out in 3 weeks and 1 day! We are counting down! Thank you God for Summer Break! :D

April Update

Carolyn: Well it's been a while since we last posted. Since the last time, I've BC'ed (WOOHOO!), Mimi and me made a month, and we both tried twist outs. I am proud to say that after my twist out, my hair was long enough to pull back in a headband and I tried Natural Chica's twist out twisted tiara style. My dad actually liked it. We have been real busy lately: Mimi with her choir practices( we joined our church), and me with yearbook applications, school work, and photography( have to put up pics soon). So Mimi and I will try to start posting more and upload videos, including a few how to's, and we will check back with you later.

P.S.: We've been doing a couple of walks and Barack made us soo proud, will post pics soon. Also Monday April 4th was our 16th B'Day and tomorrow is our bro's 11th B'Day! ;)

Spring Break.... & Tests

This week, we have 9 weeks and afterwards Spring Break. Our tests are messed up, so I know for sure that we're not going to feel like doing to our hair or even dress up. It's raining anyway, but's that another good reason for my cut.. HA :) Usually I'll be worked up about these two weeks but not anymore. The only thing that I need to worry about is my skin getting oily to quickly. Oh yeah check Ms. Chelsea's blog "Curly & Young"; I'm featured for my BC. I'll put the video up soon.
